ACCESS Trades is THE ONE-STOP SHOP for Aboriginal apprentices.
ACCESS Trades offers urban Aboriginal men and women entry into certified trades training programs, apprenticeship registration and counseling.
We partner with the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Native Education College and other training institutes to give our clients the highest quality of training available. At ACCESS Trades we want to ensure our clients gain the skills they need to be competitive in today's workforce. Participants entering training are provided with basic hand tools, safety gear and books. Lunches are provided to all entry level and first year trainees in our group training programs.
ACCESS Trades is designated by the ITA as a sponsor for Aboriginal apprentices. ACCESS Trades is committed to providing apprentices with the resources and support necessary to successfully complete the full term of their apprenticeship. Our only goal is to help Aboriginal men and women attain Red Seal or Provincial certification in a trade. We currently monitor the progress of over two hundred successful Aboriginal apprentices in over fifteen different trades.
Three apprenticeship counselors are on staff to offer assistance to the apprentice and the employer. Our apprenticeship counselors are experts in the area of apprenticeship and can:
- Provide you with information about apprenticeship and apprenticeship training programs.

- Register your apprenticeship with the ITA (Industry Training Authority).
- Connect you with employers looking for apprentices.
- In cooperation with your employer serve as the sponsor of your apprenticeship.
- Ensure your work based training hours are recorded and submitted to the ITA.
- Assist you to complete Federal Apprenticeship Grant applications.
- Assist you with your registration each year for annual technical training.
- Provide you with the support and resources you need to successfully complete your apprenticeship.
