ABOUT US

ACCESS Trades is committed to providing apprentices with the resources and support necessary to successfully complete the full term of their apprenticeship.  Our only goal is to help Aboriginal men and women attain Red Seal or Provincial certification in a trade.   Our apprenticeship counsellors are experts in the area of apprenticeship and will help guide you in the right direction.  Once you have decided which trade is for you we will refer you to one of our counsellors at ACCESS Employment Assistance Services.  There they will determine your eligibility for the program and financial assistance.

Trades programs are available through individual seat purchases or you may want to participate in one of our group programs.  To find out about upcoming group programs go to our Training Schedule.

All group training is done through the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Vancouver Community College, Pacific Vocational Institute and other ITA designated training institutes. Our partners provide ACCESS Trainees with the highest quality of training available.

Once you are registered in a training program we will:

  • Monitor the progress of your training at school.
  • Assist you to complete your apprenticeship registration documents.
  • Register your apprenticeship with the ITA (Industry Training Authority).
  • Connect you with employers looking for apprentices.
  • *In cooperation with your employer serve as the sponsor of your apprenticeship
  • Ensure your work based training hours are recorded and submitted to the ITA.
  • Assist you to complete Apprenticeship Grant applications.
  • Assist you with your registration each year for annual technical training.
  • Provide the support and resources you need to successfully complete your apprenticeship
* In some cases your employer or union will sponsor your apprenticeship however we will continue to monitor your progress.
